Jody Sparks

Jody Sparks is a wife, mother, social worker and therapeutic foster parent of 20 years. She has lived in the Sandhills area since 1984. She was born in Lansing, Michigan but raised in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. Jody graduated in 1981 from Western Michigan where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Social Work. Jody has been married to Gregory Sparks for 33 years and they raised two daughters, Ashley and Sara.  Sara is now married and they have two beautiful granddaughters and a son-in-law who proudly serves in the United States Army.

Jody Sparks has been a therapeutic foster parent for 20 years and works with children that are traumatized and/or has a mental health diagnoses.  She presently works for a nonprofit agency, Alexander Youth Network, where she supervises other treatment parents. She has been employed with them for the past 9 years.

Jody served as a Deacon for 9 years at the Community Congregational Church in Southern Pines, NC. Once her daughters reached middle school age, she started to attend Grace Church of Southern Pines to allow them more opportunity in a youth group.  It was in 2008 that she attended her first missions meeting and realized that God had been leading her to become involved in spreading the Gospel of Jesus internationally as well as locally. She has served on 3 different teams that have been involved in Comayagua, Honduras; each one very different, but anointed by the Holy Spirit.  As Matthew 9:37 says “the harvest is plenty but the worker are few”. It was in Comayagua that God revealed that there are those that see the harvest and those that plant the seeds.  Jody believes that God has us on a mission daily to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
