February 2014 Newsletter

2013 has come and gone and we’re already in to 2014. Can you believe it?

Helping Hands had our regular Board meeting in January to plan the new year. In the reports that was given we discovered that we had accomplished more in 2013 than we did the year before. We also found that we were able to do that on $16,000.00 less money. YES!! We lost that much money in Financial donations.

Helping Hands was established by Donna and I in June, 1996 and that is about as low as our finances have ever been. If you look at the money brought in and what we spent, we operated in the RED for the year.

Helping Hands is not Funded or Endowed by any group or denomination. We are not supported by a church but by several churches. We are a registered 501c3, independent organization. Donna and I attend church but Helping Hands is not affiliated with a particular church and we do not belong to any one church. We have our own Board of Directors and operate as an independent organization.

The Board looked at what and where we could cut funds to save some money, but we decided that God’s work is to important and who are we do try and decide who should be cut and not get the help they need. So, Helping Hands will continue to operate on the funds we have until such time as the money runs out, if it does. God is in control and what HHM does or does not do is totally up to him. We just work for him, we don’t own it, or anything else for that matter.

Maybe I should have said this a long time ago, since it seems, that some people thought we belonged to someone else.

I just thought you should know!!!

Some of you know that we have been helping the Robbins, NC community. We are specifically helping the Robbins Area Christian Ministries (RACM). We have purchased food and worked with other organizations to collect food and help deliver it to their food bank. I just got a report from them this morning, they served 854 individuals with food. Most of these only needed help once or twice in the year in emergency situations.

Donna called the lady in charge to see if she had any needs. She discovered that the food pantry was empty. They had some food bagged up for standby but nothing on the shelves. HHM had some extra money in a separate account so we went shopping and bought enough can food and other items to fill my trailer and part of the truck and delivered it to them. We did not get any dried beans and not much rice just caned goods. Donna found a place that we could buy beans in bulk and ordered 100 pounds of red beans and 50 pounds of pinto’s. That was delivered yesterday. The RACM was having a work day that night to bag food and would rebag the beans in to smaller portions so every family would get some. While there, I was told that the number needing help for January alone was over 300 and the lady in charge checked, no duplicates.

HHM is working on our next Honduras shipment. In fact, we had our work day today. We had a good crew and got a lot work accomplished. I had surgery two days before Christmas and have not been able to bend or lift since then. But, I am getting close to being completely healed and look forward to being able to carry boxes and build pallets again.

The last shipment to Honduras arrived about a week before Christmas. That was a huge blessing to the hospitals, orphanages, clinics, churches and people that received stuff. We were able to ship three shipments last year and help two other ministries get their items to Honduras including an ultrasound machine for a new clinic.

We send out these newsletters to let you know what we are doing. If you support us, pray for us or volunteer with us, you are a part of HHM and we are thankful for the part you play.

WE pray you have a great new year and are always on the path that God has prepared for you. Keep your eyes on him and walk in His ways, and you shall be blessed!

Sincerely,

Tony and Donna Haywood
